This is a standard tour for a meaningful introduction to the people and wildlife of northern Tanzania. Tours to about four different tribal societies enable the visitor to interact with the local people and learn their history. For wildlife, preference is given to the two big names - Ngorongoro and Serengeti - but leaves options for the addition of Lake Manyara or Tarangire National Parks. The itinerary is designed in such a way that it can easily be supplemented with other programmes like Zanzibar, Pangani or climbing Kilimanjaro to complete a two-week safari in Tanzania. Day 1 Arusha
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and meet our guide who will arrange the transfer to a lodge in Mto wa Mbu beside Lake Manyara.

Day 2 Mto wa Mbu
Either go for a sightseeing walk along the Rift Valley wall, or go for a country walk beside the border of Lake Manyara National Park. Visit a Maasai Kraal in the evening to watch the return of cattle from grazing fields. Remain in Mto wa Mbu for overnight.

Day 3 Ngorongoro/Serengeti
Depart from Mto wa Mbu and drive to Serengeti via Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Drive down into the crater for game viewing and a picnic lunch, proceeding to Serengeti in the afternoon. Overnight stay in the heart of Serengeti.

Day 4 Serengeti
Enjoy a full day game drive in Serengeti.

Day 5 Serengeti
Continue with game-viewing in the morning. Drive out of the park in the afternoon but with a stop at the prehistoric site of Olduval Gorge. Get out of Serengeti for overnight stay in Karatu.

Day 6 Mbulu/ Babati
Make a long sightseeing drive in the Mbulu Highlands, finally meandering down to Babati. Stop in Mbulu to meet the former Olympic marathon runner who will guide you to Amafala Hill and the red cathedral. Overnight stay in Babati town.

Day 7 Babati
Tour Lake Babati and the surrounding Gorowa villages. Leave Babati and drive to Tarangire National Park for evening game drive and overnight.

Day 8 Tarangire/ Arusha
Go for early morning game-drive in Tarangire. Later in the afternoon, return to Arusha, optional to tour Meserani Snake Park. Connect to another programme such as Zanzibar Holiday.
